A parent can gain access to the Parent portal to track their child's progress through student reports. The Parent account is created when the publisher, school/district admin or teacher enters the parent's email address during the student rostering process. Refer to Create Parent Account for more details.
- When a parent is added for the first time, they will receive a password reset email. This email will have a password reset link, through which the parent can set their password. This reset link will not have an expiry date.
- Teacher / School Admin / District Admin will have an option to resend the email to the parent, with login details, using a check-box on the "Edit Student" page.
- The Parent profile page will display the "Name" as their email address (trimmed after the @ sign).
- All the new and old associations will be maintained if the parent email addresses are changed while editing the student.
- The parent will receive another email if COPPA/GDPR is enabled and the "Below 16 years" checkbox is checked. Through this email, parents can allow or deny permission for their child to access the portal. A student will not be able to log in to the portal if the parent has denied permission. This field exists on the portal to comply with COPPA and GDPR requirements.
Note : "Parent or guardian's email" is an optional field. But, If you check the checkbox for "Below 16 years," this field will become mandatory.
Parents can view the following student reports:
1. Book Report: This report will show data for all books assigned to the student, overall time spent, and annotations created (irrespective of the month). In the case of one child, only one tab with the child's full name will be displayed. In the case of multiple children being students at the same school/district, each child's information will be available on a separate tab, with the student's full name displayed.
2. Login Report: This report will show monthly data of the number of logins and total time spent (in hours) on the portal by the student.
3. Assessment Report: This report will show data for all assessments assigned to the student, along with the title, due date, total questions, etc. (irrespective of the month). Here, questions attempted will be those that are part of completed (submitted/graded) assessments.
