The library page is a crucial part of our platform and is used extensively by all Teacher users. As a result, it was imperative to give it a modern look and feel and incorporate feedback from end-users to improve the user experience and make it easier to use.

The updated UI/UX of the Library page includes several changes that will make it more user-friendly and efficient, including:

  • Structuring the library page to avoid overcrowding of content can lead to decision paralysis at first glance.

  • Simplifying the use of colors in icons and typography to avoid distractions from the main task.

  • Clear demarcation of different content types with more white space and fresh fresh empty states.

  • An upfront search and a new list view containing sufficient content information have been added to improve content scanning and discoverability.

  • New and improved filters with relevant calls-to-action have been added to avoid performance issues.

  • A balanced and organized information hierarchy on the book overview page.

These changes will help teachers quickly find the resources they need and improve their overall experience on our platform.

Search

Teachers can search for the content (all content types) by entering the title, author, ISBN, or description in the search field.

Filter

Teachers can click on the Filter button, to open the list of configured filters on the Library page.

Earlier, the Filter elements on the library page looked monotonous and had limited clickable areas, resulting in increasing the user’s cognitive load. With the new UI/UX design, we have introduced chips as the filter element, making the interaction fast and seamless across devices. The new UI/UX have also replaced the auto-apply interaction with a prominent CTA to avoid any performance issues.

  • Show Shared content (i.e. teacher uploaded assigned content) and show Title & Author are taken inside the filter menu from the main Library page.

  • The teachers can now also do a filter search by filter label or filter title in the filter search box.

  • Once the filters are selected, the teacher must click on the 'Apply' button to apply the filter on the Library section.

  • Filters will not be applied on the continuous section on the library page.

  • Filters will be persistent and will apply in the next session as well. The teachers can see the list of filters applied previously/same session upfront on the library page as shown in the below screenshot.

  • Teachers can click on the 'x' icon on the filter label or click 'Clear all' to remove the filters.

Favorite Feature

Teachers can mark any content as a favorite by clicking on the ' Star icon' on individual content labels.

  • To view all the content marked as favorite, teachers can click on the star button near the content sorting menu.

  • To remove any content from the favorite list, teachers can click on the star icon again on the individual content label.

Content Sorting

Teachers will now see a content sorting option on the library page. By default, the content will be sorted alphabetically on the library page.

Teachers can choose from the below options and sort content in the library as per their interests.

  • A To Z

  • Z to A
