Clone Course

The Magic Box platform offers publishers the flexibility of the new Clone Course feature.
The Clone Course feature enhances the course management system by providing an efficient way to duplicate courses. This functionality includes customizable course details, SKU number validation, TOC selection, and status tracking, ensuring a user-friendly and error-free cloning process.
Follow the below steps to clone the course.
- Log in to the portal.
- Select My Content on the left-hand side menu.
- Select Create Course in the sub-menu.
- Navigate to the existing course card list.
- Click on the three dots icon to open a dropdown menu.
- Select the Clone option from the dropdown.
- Upon selecting Clone, the user is redirected to the Clone Course screen.
- The top header will display Clone Course along with the name of the original course (Eg: Clone- Laws of Physics).
- Users can add a thumbnail image for the cloned course.
- The course name is default shown as Clone of [Original Course Name]. Users can edit the course name.
- Users can also select and edit the description for the cloned course.
- A unique SKU number is auto-generated by the system.
- Users can edit the SKU number (numeric characters only).
- If the entered SKU number already exists, an error message will be displayed: SKU Number is not unique. Please select a new SKU Number.
- A checkbox labeled Select all TOC to include in the course is available.
- When selected, all TOC items from the original course are included (with artifacts and metadata).
- If the checkbox is not selected, users must select at least one TOC item.
- A message "Please select at least one TOC to process" is displayed until a TOC item is selected.
- Parent and child TOC items are displayed in an expanded accordion format by default.
- Users must select child-level TOC items if a parent-level TOC item is selected. Otherwise, an error message "Select one child level TOC" will be displayed.
- A message "Please select at least one TOC to process" is displayed until a TOC item is selected.
- Upon clicking Confirm Clone, a progress toaster appears.
- A close button becomes available once cloning is complete to dismiss the toaster.
- When the course is not cloned- Upon clicking the back button triggers a popup: Confirmation - "Leaving this page will result in loss of data. Do you agree to leave?"
- Selecting Yes redirects the user to the course list without cloning.
- Selecting No closes the popup.
- When a course is cloned- Upon clicking the back button, the user will be redirected to the list of courses page.
- The cloned course appears at the top of the list with the status Draft.
- The cloned course appears at the top of the list with the status Draft.
- When cloning is in progress- Upon clicking the back button, the user will be redirected to the list of courses page.
- The cloned course appears at the top of the list with the status Cloning in Progress.
- Once cloning is complete, the status changes to Draft.
- Upon successful cloning, the Cloning History button is displayed.
- Clicking this button opens a popup showing:
- Clone Date & Time
- Clone By (Username)
- Clone From (Original Course Name)
