E-Reader

The new e-reader is designed to improve cohesiveness with the rest of the platform application. In the new design, the menu options, tools, and navigation are logically grouped. A minimalistic design approach is used, keeping in mind the student's focus on the reading experience. 

Book Navigation Tools

The platform provides different tools in the reader which enable the user to navigate the book.

1. Next/Previous buttons on the left and right-hand side of the page.

2. Search icon to search for a specific word or phrase in the book.

3. Page icon on the bottom: Click on the existing page number and enter the page number you'd like to navigate to on the Go to Page.

4. Click on the Content icon on the header to open the table of content and navigate to a specific page.

5. Thumbnail icon on the bottom: Click on this icon to see thumbnails of the next and previous pages. Click on these thumbnails to navigate to other pages in the book. 

Add Highlights 

Highlight feature enables user to highlight text in the book. The highlighted text will be saved in the book. Students and teachers can view the list of highlighted content in the highlight menu on the left panel of the reader.

1. Select the text you want to highlight. 
2. Click on the Highlighter icon on the top right of the page
3. You can change the color of the highlight by clicking on the color options.
4. You can also change the highlight style by clicking on the Change style.
5. Click save to highlight the selected text. 

• You can view all the highlights by clicking on the highlight option on the left panel.
• You can sort the highlight by date entered and by page number.

Add Notes

The platform allows teachers and students to make notes within the book. 

1. Click on the add note icon on the bottom left of the page. 

2. You will see 'Add Note' message. Follow the instructions and create a note.

5. Click anywhere on the page to add a note.

6. Add a note and click save. A note icon will be created on the page. You can drag and navigate this icon on the page.

7. You can view all the notes by clicking on the notes icon on the top menu. You can sort the notes by latest, oldest and page number. 

Drawing Tool

The platform provides a drawing tool inside the ebook reader. You can click on the drawing tool icon to select different drawing tool option-  pen, highlighter, eraser as per your need. 

1. Pen - You can scribble freehand or take notes using the pen. 

You can also personalize the color of the pen to suit your preference by using the color pallet options in the color pallet menu. 

• Click on the color to make your selection.

2. Eraser- Use the eraser icon to erase the drawing on the page.

• You can either use the erase drage option, if you want to erase a selected area.
• You can use the erase all option, if you want to erase all the drawing from the page.

3. Highlighter - You can highlight a text or a phrase using the highlight option. Click here to learn more about highlight feature.

Bookmarks

You can add a bookmark on the top right corner of the book using the bookmark feature. 

• Click the bookmark icon on the top of the page, which you wish to bookmark.
• If you want to remove the bookmark, click on the highlighted bookmark on the top of the page.

To view all the bookmarks, click on the bookmark icon on the header. You can sort the bookmark by latest, oldest, and page number. 

Zoom in - Zoom out Feature

Students and teachers can Zoom in and Zoom out of an eBook in the eReader, using this feature.

1. Click on the Zoom In icon to enhance the size of a page on the eBook. 

• Maximum zoom-in limit is 600%. The Zoom In icon will fade away after reaching the maximum limit.

2. Click the Zoom Out icon to decrease the size of the page on an eBook. 

• Maximum zoom-out limit is 100%. The Zoom Out icon will fade away after reaching the maximum limit.

Text Selection - The eBook Reader allows the user to select text in the eBook using the Text Selection feature. The Text Selection feature will be enabled when the user zooms in to a minimum of 125%.  Click on the Text Selection icon to enable this feature. 

Select the text you wish to select and you can perform the following actions on the selected text:

• Make notes
• Add highlights

• Listen to selected text

Panning Feature

Click the Panning icon to activate panning in zoomed-in view. This will allow you to move the page in the zoomed state and Text Selection will be disabled.  

Read Aloud Feature 

Through this feature, the user can listen to the eBook audio. The Read-Aloud functionality works when the audio files are embedded in the ePub.

1. Click the "Play" icon to start the ebook audio. (Note: Text that is being read aloud in the audio will be highlighted on the screen for the reader. You can disable the highlighted text functionality from the Settings option.)

2. Click the "Pause" icon to stop the audio.

Readspeaker

The read Speaker feature allows text content to be read aloud. The user can listen to the eBook audio of an entire page with this feature. By speech-enabling text, you can better understand information and listen to it anytime and anywhere. This makes the content more accessible. The Read Speaker can be used in all eBooks, even if they don't have audio files embedded in the ePub, as a user you don't have to download anything.

MagicBox has updated the new version of the Read speaker on eReader. The new version includes the following new features in the Read speaker settings and toolbar. 

1. Enable text highlighting
2. Select type of highlighting- words and sentences, words only, sentences only, no highlighting.
3. Choose word color, text color, sentence color
4. Read on hover
5. Enlarge text
6. Text mode
7. Page mask
8. Features for selected text- Read the selected text, dictionary, and translation.
