Our goal in modernizing the UI/UX of MagicBox is to create an engaging and improved user experience for both students and teachers. We've kept the needs and interests of learners in mind, and have designed an all-new student home page, or student dashboard.
This dashboard is the perfect one-stop-shop for students, with all the information they need to gain personalized insights into their learning and progress available at the click of a button. It features interactive visualizations that guide students to their respective tasks - whether that's assignments, assessments, reading, or course-taking - and gives them a comprehensive overview of their evaluations and progress, all in one place.
This streamlined experience will save students valuable time and effort by eliminating the need to search for the resources they need, allowing them to focus on what's important - learning! The platform's improved ease of use and reduced efforts will guide students toward success and a brighter future.
Note- The student landing page is configurable and can be changed as per the publisher's request to the Magic Box team.
My Profile Widget -
An avatar will be auto-displayed when the user logs in for the first time. The student will see their first name, last name, and class associated in the profile widget. If students are associated with multiple classes, the classes will be comma-separated.
You will be redirected to the 'My Profile' page.
- You can edit the first name, and last name, and change the password from the 'My Profile' page.
- Click on the 'Change password' button to reset the password.
- You will see the below pop-up. Enter the current password, and the new password, and Re-enter the new password.
- Click 'Update' to reset the password.
- Click on the avatar to change the default profile avatar from the avatar library. You will see the below pop-up.
- Select the avatar you wish to use as the profile image.
- Click 'Apply'.
Today's Events Widget -
Now, students can see the upcoming classes and events planned for today (by default), the current week, and the month on the homepage itself from the calendar widget. This will minimize the risk of students missing important classes/events as it will be shown upfront as soon as they log in to the platform.
- By default, the 12-hour format according to the user's local time will be displayed to the student. The student can hover over the title to view the complete title in a tooltip.
- Students can directly go to the meeting link by clicking on the configured conferencing tool logo (i.e. Microsoft Team, zoom, and Google Meet) or clicking the "Click to join" link.
- If no event is scheduled for today then events for the current week will be listed (Monday to Sunday), if there is no event for the week then data will be shown for the current month.
- If no event is scheduled for today, the week, or the current month then an empty state will be shown.
- If there are more than 2 events for today/current week/month, students can click the 'View all' links at the bottom which will redirect the student to the Calendar.
In Progress Widget
Students will be able to view their in-progress tasks for assessments, and assignments from the In Progress widget on the Homepage. This is designed to guide the students with their learning and help them save time searching for their daily To-do tasks.
Note- The In-progress widget will show information for the modules (Assessment and assignments) that are configured for the students.
- The count will be shown for assessment and assignments started and not submitted (i.e. in progress state)
- The student can click on the count for the respective task, and they will be redirected to the relevant page/task directly from the In Progress widget.
Daily Feeds
The feed section is designed to help students keep track of all their activities on the platform in a single-screen display to improve engagement and learning efficiency.
Psychologically, personalized feeds provide the perception of control and help students feel less overstimulated by content. Students can track all the tasks, assessments, and resources that are assigned to them and filter the information by task categories, subject, and status such as due, missed, graded, new, and assigned.
The Feeds section contains feed filters by category, subject, and status.
Information in card view which will bear the default category and content type thumbnail, title of assessment/assignment/courses/ other resources, Due date (if any), content type logo with the label, Action button such as View Report, Start now, Resume, Pending evaluation, and Missed. The pending evaluation and Missed buttons will be in a disabled state.
- By default, all categories, all subjects, and all status filters will be applied and students can see the feed view according to the following status hierarchy- Due, in progress, Missed, Evaluated, Not Started, and Completed.
- Students can select only one filter from the respective filter dropdown menu at a time.
- The students will be able to select/change the subject and status filters only when a category filter is selected.
- The student will need to click the "Apply Filter" button to apply filters on the feed section.
- The filters are configurable as per the publisher and student business needs.
- The Subject filter mapping will apply only to tagged assessments, resources (all content types), and courses.
- The platform will fetch the status values in the status filter as per the selected category and/or subject values in the respective filters.
