LTI is an abbreviation for Learning Tools Interoperability, which is a standard protocol developed by the IMS Global Learning Consortium. MagicBox is LTI compliant, which allows MagicBox to integrate with standard a Learning Management System (LMS), including Schoology and Canvas, as single-sign-on tools.

Version 1.0 of LTI (formerly referred to as Basic LTI) defines a mechanism for launching users from one application to another in a seamless and secure manner.

In LTI  Inbound, MagicBox acts as a provider because it provides the LTI credentials to external LMSes, through which the LMS can log in to MagicBox and access publisher content.

The LTI credentials generated by MagicBox can also be added as an LTI external tool in the school’s LMS. Once students and teachers click on the newly added MagicBox link/tool, they are automatically rostered on the MagicBox Portal (i.e., their account is created).

Publishers can set up LTI credentials with three types of keys

1. Generate LTI credentials with global keys:

This type of key gives you the flexibility to register a user who is not associated with any school or district, such as an individual teacher, individual user. The license is created on run time and specified content can be assigned to the user.

2. Generate LTI credentials with school keys:

This type of key gives you the flexibility to register the user (student, teacher, admin) within the school.

3. Generate LTI credentials with school district keys:

This type of key gives you the flexibility to register the user (student, teacher, admin) within a school in the district.
