Types of Content

A publisher can build a digital catalog (library) that supports the distribution of different content types across OSes and devices. The MagicBox platform supports 16 different content types.

1. Assessments as a product (questions and standard tests):

You can add questions or standard tests that are already created on the portal as a product, using the assessment content type. 

2. Audio

You can upload .mp3 audio file content. On devices, the audio will be launched within the app.

3. ePub

MagicBox supports ePub version 3. You can upload both fixed layout ePub and reflowable ePub. Click here to refer to the content guidelines.

Before uploading the ePub title, you can also validate it for IDPF compliance, using the IDPF ePub 3 validator from the link provided on the portal. ePubs are opened in the eBook reader. 

The maximum size limit to upload an ePub is 3GB.

4. Excel

You can upload any excel product as content on the portal.  When you open the Excel content on the web, it will be automatically downloaded on your system. After successful content download on the device, this excel product will open automatically in the excel app. 

5. External Resource

This content type is used to upload an external LTI tool.

6. Game

You can add the interactive games as content on the library. The game will be uploaded in the .zip file format. The game content type will be launched in a new tab. 

7. LTI Tool

Upload LTI outbound external products for individual users/schools/districts.

8. PDF

You can upload a .pdf file as content on the library.  When you open the pdf content on the web, it will be launched in a new tab. After successful content download on a device, the pdf content will be launched through a third-party application. 

9. PDF to ePub3

The platform allows PDF to ePub 3 conversion. You can convert a static pdf (size not more than 2GB)  into an interactive, fixed-layout ePub 3 eBook. These pdfs are launched in the eBook reader. 

10. SCORM Course

You can upload a valid SCORM 1.2 course as a product. This SCORM content is launched in the eBook reader.

11. Simulation

This content type is used to add an interactive simulation to the library in the .zip file format. On the web, simulation content is launched in a new tab. On devices, the simulation will be launched within the app.

12. Video

You can upload a video in .mov/.mp4 file format. On the web, video files open in a new tab. On devices, video files will be launched within the app.

13. Word

You can upload a Microsoft Word document as content on the portal. On the web, the Word content will be downloaded on the system.  On devices, the content will be launched through third-party applications.

14. PPT 

You can upload a PPT product as content on the portal. If accessed on the web, the PPT content will be downloaded on the system. On devices, the content is launched through third-party applications.

15. Weblink

You can add a web link URL as content on the portal. This weblink can open in the same or in a new tab. On Android devices, the web link is launched externally, on the default browser. On an iOS devices, it is launched within the app.
